GET OUT your diaries as NE1’s Newcastle Fashion Week is back – and it promises to be even bigger and better than last year.
Sponsored by jewellery brand Chamilia and Mercedes Benz, Newcastle, NE1’s Newcastle Fashion Week (NFW) has announced a packed programme of events and activities, from premier catwalk shows and VIP shopping events, to industry talks from fashion’s finest and exclusive after show parties at venues across the city.
Exclusive merchandise will sold exclusively through Fenwick, including commemorative T-shirts designed by international clothing brand
Barbour and limited-edition LoveBullets NFW 2012 necklaces. All proceeds from
the sale of the merchandise goes to Metro Radio’s charity, Cash For Kids.
Highlights from the event include: Saturday, May 26(12noon) – Grey’s Monument becomes the venue for two catwalk shows – the first showcases design talent from Newcastle College while the second provides inspiration on how to dress for success.
Sunday, May 27– Barbour displays its spring/summer collection at an open-air catwalk presented by TV fashion expert Brix Smith-Start, accompanied by her famous four-legged friends.
Monday, May 28– Elizabeth Walker, the doyenne of Marie Claire magazine for over a decade, takes to the lectern as part of the lecture programme.
Tuesday, May 29– Fashion Front Row Catwalk at As You Like It, Jesmond, hosted by TV presenter Jayne Middlemiss and featuring the best emerging and newly established fashion design talent.
Wednesday, May 30– Northumbria University’s Graduate Fashion Show at the Baltic. Top industry buyers and fashion pundits from across the UK congregate on this event hunting for new fashion design talent.
Thursday, May 31– Fashion’s Day Out at Eldon Square. A day dedicated to catwalks and the city’s best retailers, showcasing the latest looks to suit all styles and budgets.
Friday, June 1– ‘Frock and Roll’, a star-studded music and fashion event combining four live bands with four top brands in a catwalk spectacular, hosted by MTV and Shipwrecked winner, Adam Childs.
Saturday, June 2– An audience with local celebrity Donna Air for a Q+A session entitled ‘From Byker to Burberry’ at Northumbria University. Later on Saturday, Donna will be presiding over an awards ceremony at The Living Room to announce the winners of this year’s Newcastle’s Most Stylish competition.
Sunday, June 3 – Fashion TV will be at Tup Tup Palace for its own exclusive catwalk show and Fashion Week closing party.
